是這學期教英國文學的老師，
長得就是標準美國電影裡一身書卷味的斯文教授樣，
講起英文來很好聽，是很純正的美國口音，不疾不徐的語調聽起來更是舒服。

今天第一天上課，因為沒有課本，所以他簡單介紹了一下這學期的上課及評分方式，
然後就讓同學自由發問。

丁雨軒（天啊直接打他名字好怪XD 可是我想記下來是他發問的）舉手問老師，
"Could you give us some advise on how to be interested in English literature?"

其實是個很可愛的問題，因為他一聽就知道對文學沒有興趣。

老師更可愛，他摸摸光亮的額頭，一副困る樣思索許久，終於說，
"I don't know.
I'm not you, I can't tell you HOW to be interested in literature."

"But I can tell you my story."

"When I was in high school, I just HATED English literature.
It was too hard for me. I couldn't understand Shakespear.
I don't care about Romeo and Juliet. They have nothing to do with me,"

"I was interested in science and physics.
But when I was 20, I just got bored."

"So, I started to read books like this." （搖晃手中厚厚的English Literature）

"And I realized, it is not about Romeo and Juliet.
It is about ME. About what kind of person I am.
It helped me to know more about myself."

"This is my first step. In the next step,
I found that it is not about me, it's about Romeo and Juliet,
about all the people who are different from me, and this is important."

"I am trapped in my body, my time, and my culture.
So, I can't understand people in different culture.
But through books, I can travel through time, space, even gender."
"This is how I am interested in literature.
I am a bad teacher, I can't tell you how to become interested in literature.
But it's students'job to be interested in what you learn.
So, you can try, see if you like it."

"But if you're really not interested in it, then, LEAVE.
Go and find something that you are inetersted to do.
Don't waste your time.
People have very few time in youth, so, don't waste them."

這席話，真是我聽過最吸引人的、對文學的說法，
好幾個地方都讓我很感動，
所以我很用心的聽，然後花了不少時間把這篇文章key出來。

我想，我會很enjoy這門課吧：）
